How London Olympics 2012 Opening ceremony takes place?

The countdown has already begun for the splendid opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012. The ceremony would be held at the Olympic Park on 27th July, 2012. Danny Boyle, the artistic director of the ceremony and his team are in full preparation mode to turn this ceremony into world’s biggest live show ever. Around 10,000 volunteers have already begun the rehearsals for the show. The ceremony will take place in front of 60,000 audiences inside the stadium and around 1 billion television audience. The ceremony will start at sharp 9’o clock and it will last for three hours. Boyle has unveiled his plan of transforming the stadium into the "British countryside” scene for this auspicious ceremony.

How London Olympics 2012 Opening ceremony takes place?
Danny Boyle has unveiled that the opening scene of the ceremony will be named as "Green and Pleasant". A village cricket team and picnicking families along with 70 sheep, 2 goats, 3 cows, 12 horses, 10 ducks, 10 chickens, 3 sheep dogs, and 9 geese will play a role in creating the scene. The set will also feature real rivers, real grass, an oak tree, a leek, and a model of Glastonbury Tor. Each of the 4 nations in the UK will be represented by their respective national flower, like flax from Northern Ireland, the rose of England, the daffodil of Wales, and the thistle of Scotland. Plus, there will be huge ‘clouds’ suspended above the stadium which will supply artificial rain, provided if the British atmosphere doesn’t pour on its own. Viewers will indeed get an amazing experience of seeing the traditional view of the British countryside.

Other attractive events include 2 mosh-pits, from which one will represent the Last Night of the Proms and the other will represent the Glastonbury festival. Plus, Boyle has planned to open the London Olympics ceremony with a symbol of peace i.e. with the ringing of a bell. The bell to be used in the ceremony will be the world’s largest "harmonically-tuned" bell that weighs around 23 tonnes and measuring 2m tall x 3m wide. With the ringing of bell inside the stadium, a Shakespeare-inspired show will begin featuring 900 children from the 6 regions that will host the games.

After an hour of cultural programs, the ceremony will head towards the traditional athletes parade and the hoisting of the Olympic flag. Afterwards, the lighting of the Olympic cauldron and a firework display will take place. Officially, the Queen Elizabeth II will open the London Olympics 2012 games with an already recorded segment that includes Daniel Craig as James Bond. In addition, Paul McCartney has already confirmed that he is the one who will close this grand ceremony.

The Olympic Stadium will be fitted with a million-watt sound system that will enhance the show even more. The sound system will have more than 500 speakers and around 50 tonnes of associated sound gear. The lightings for the ceremony include 500 LED fixtures, 1,100 automated lamps, 1,000 conventional lamps, and around 32 follow spots. It is expected that approximately 12,956 props and 23,000 costumes will be used in the ceremonies and the production base for the London ceremonies i.e. 3 Mills Studios are working very hard to make these props and costumes. In short, the hard work of thousands of people will surely make the event a grand success.
